TREESCAPE

Today, we invite you to pause – and to listen.
Not simply with ears, but with attention, with presence, with care. Because sometimes the most profound stories are not told, but felt. Treescape is one such story.

Born from the landscape that shaped us – the arboretum at Heckfield Estate – Treescape is a sonic collaboration with award-winning sound artist Justin Wiggan. It is, quite literally, the voice of our trees. Using biosonification, a technique that translates the silent electrical signals of trees, soil and plant life into sound, Justin has composed a meditative, immersive soundscape that invites us to reconnect with the intelligence of nature.

From the beginning, our vision at Wildsmith has always been rooted in living systems: Everything starts with the soil and the systems that support us. With Treescape, we deepen this conversation. It is not a campaign. It is a continuation of our belief that nature speaks – and that true care begins with listening.

A Living Sound Journey

Treescape begins high in the skies above Heckfield. In the first movement, Skyscape Opening, cloud formations and wind currents over the estate are translated into textured sound. Tuned to 963 Hz, a tone from the Solfeggio frequency scale believed to promote spiritual connection and emotional alignment, this phase gently draws the listener inward. It becomes a kind of threshold – a moment of reset and quiet clarity.

Each stage of Treescape is underpinned by Solfeggio frequencies – a set of ancient tonal vibrations rediscovered in the 1970s and historically associated with deep healing and transformation. These frequencies, from 174 Hz to 963 Hz, are said to mirror the natural harmonics of the body and the earth. In Treescape, they are paired with the real-time bio-data of the Arboretum, creating an experience that is both grounded and transcendent.

In the Canopy of Transformation, biosonified signals from leaves, sap flow and vascular systems are layered with 528 Hz and 417 Hz – tones traditionally linked to DNA repair, emotional healing and clearing of negative energy. It is a gentle unfurling. The Arboretum breathes. We remember how to breathe with it.

The soundscape then deepens into The Forest’s Release, where 396 Hz, a frequency associated with liberation from guilt and fear, flows through recordings of falling leaves, shifting branches and the rhythmic exhalation of trees. There is a softness here. A sense of letting go.

Rooted in Relief

From canopy to forest floor, the composition shifts downward into Roots of Relief. Here, 174 Hz – a frequency linked to physical and emotional pain relief – merges with the hidden sonics of root networks, microbial pathways and underground water flow. It is an invitation to sink, to soften, to be held.

In Harmonic Balance, the resonance of 432 Hz creates a sense of natural symmetry. Known for its alignment with the rhythms of the earth and human biology, this frequency evokes a feeling of deep coherence – as if every internal system is gently falling into place.

And in the closing chapter, 639 Hz, associated with connection and acceptance, the soundscape settles. There is a warmth. A quiet resolution. The forest offers us something, and we receive it. Not as observers, but as participants in a shared rhythm.

Why Sound? Why Now?

In an age of overstimulation, true rest has become rare. Yet our bodies, much like forests, respond to pattern, vibration and rhythm. Solfeggio frequencies tap into this innate sensitivity – not as a trend, but as a subtle language of the nervous system.

Treescape is our response to the need for deeper renewal. It reflects the regenerative values that shape every part of what we do – from biodynamic cultivation to how we formulate for long-term skin health. This is not simply a composition. It is a gesture of care that exists beyond product. It is presence, translated into sound.

In Justin Wiggan, we found a kindred spirit – someone attuned to the silent signals of nature, unafraid to explore sound as a form of healing. His process, grounded in both art and science, mirrors our belief that wellness is systemic. That to truly care for the skin, we must also care for what lies beneath and beyond it.

An Offering

We created Treescape to be experienced in many ways – as part of a Wildsmith treatment, while walking beneath trees, or in moments of stillness at home. It is not prescriptive. It is simply there – to meet you wherever you are.

You can listen to Treescape on SoundCloud, where the full 2 hour and 50-minute journey is available. Whether you explore it in its entirety or drop in for just a few minutes, we hope it offers space – to pause, to breathe, to return.

More than anything, we hope Treescape offers what it offered us: a deeper sense of connection. To place. To self. To something older than language. A reminder that nature is always speaking – and when we truly listen, something within us begins to heal.
