Frequently Asked Questions

Can moisturisers cause dry skin?

Facial moisturisers are essential for a dry skin, moisturisers will have humectants which will draw in moisture and emollients to seal and soften the skin, together they hydrate the skin and nourish. Moisturisers cannot cause dryness, however you may experience dryness if the skins barrier is compromised or central heating is zapping moisture from the skin. Cold weather can also cause the skin to feel dry, dehydrated and sensitive.  Our Active Repair Copper Peptide Cream is rich in hyaluronic acid which is an excellent humectant to draw and bind moisture into the skin and to plump. Skin feels comforted, hydrated soft and supple all day.

Which moisturisers are best for sensitive skin?

Sensitive skins need a moisturiser that not only delivers soothing, calming and desensitizing actives but also hydrating ingredients. Sensitive, irritated and stressed skins will find their skin barrier has been compromised and therefore it is fragile, red and often aggravated. Sensitive skins need to take care at every stage of their skin skincare routine, starting with cleansing and exfoliating. Look for ingredients that will bring instant comfort to the skin, aloe vera is known for its softening, soothing benefits and ceramides will help repair a compromised skin barrier. Sensitive skins should avoid over exfoliating and overusing AHA’s, ultimately you should avoid stressing a sensitive skin.

Should I moisturise oily skin?

If an oily, combination skin does not remain hydrated, the skin will produce more oil to keep the skin supple and moisturised. The most important steps for an oily, combination skin is to cleanse the skin effectively with an oil soluble cleansers and moisturise with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid. Oily skins need to be aware of over cleansing and over exfoliating especially with grains if there is spots and breakouts present. Oily skins must moisturiser morning and evening to ensure the skins oils glands are not over stimulated and the enzymes remain active to help unblock the pores. We recommend our Active Repair Copper Peptide Cream as it contains a low molecular weight hyaluronic acid to keep skin hydrated, it offers strong antioxidant protection against external aggressors like pollutants and boosts collagen production and cell turnover for healthier skin.

What does a moisturiser do to the skin?

Moisturisers are essential for the health of the skin, a hydrated skin is a skin that is more youthful, balanced, clear and full of vibrancy and luminosity. Moisturising is essentially one of the most important steps in your skincare routine. Your moisturiser has a dual role, ultimately to protect the skin, reinforcing the skins barrier and keep the skin hydrated soft and supple. A moisturiser should include humectants to draw in moisture and emollients to help seal in the hydration. The Copper Peptide complex in our Active Repair Copper Peptide Cream supports vital cell processes in the skin such as collagen production and tissue repair to strengthen the skin barrier, while hyaluronic acid provides deep hydration leaving skin feeling smoother, softer and moisturised.
